The way to a country's heart goes through its stomach.

Cook Your Way is a political game with a custom controller aimed at raising questions about how immigration bureaucracy and neoliberal discourses of multiculturalism combine to oppress migrants. Players act as entry-visa applicants asked to cook a typical dish of their country of origin using a "cooking station". This is assessed by immigration authorities according to criteria such as efficiency and their potential to “contribute” to the new country's society. The game is presented as a standardized test, one step within a longer visa-like application process.

The game is currently in development, with an estimated launch date of December 2018. You can find more news about its creation, testing and other things in the devlog

Cook Your Way is being supported by a Hexagram Student Grant.
